JIS G3106 specification applies to hot-rolled carbon steel plates for welded structures. Steel grades include: SM400A/B/C, SM490A/B/C, SM490YA/YB, SM520B/C, SM570.
application:
SM400A/B/C: Structural quality carbon steel sections, plates and rods for riveted, bolted or welded construction of bridges and buildings and general structural purposes.
SM490A/B/C: hot-rolled steel plates for outdoor engineering, ships, and military (armor) construction.
SM490YA/YB: Extra heavy steel plates for welded structures in bridge and highway construction.
SM520B/C: Extra heavy steel plate for welded structures. It is also a low-carbon, high-strength structural steel with good cold forming properties.
SM570: Low alloy high-strength steel plate, thick steel plate for mechanical parts, jibs, cranes, chassis, construction bridges and mobile equipment.
